Peer Review tracks what a defined set of health communications agencies are doing with AI. Sourced, dated facts. Where I draw a conclusion I’ll label it — and at this stage there are very few worth drawing.
In scope: WPP’s health assets, Inizio, Omnicom Health, Real Chemistry, OPEN Health, Syneos Health and Envision. Health communications work only. Below is the 2026 record so far.
Products and platforms
14 July — Real Chemistry launches ANATOMI, an AI ecosystem covering the commercialisation lifecycle, including a publications workflow.
28 July — Inizio Engage launches Connected Insights, applying AI to medical information interactions across 20+ languages.
January (approx) — Omnicom unveils the next generation of Omni at group level, integrating Interpublic assets, Acxiom identity data and autonomous agents.
Predating this year: Inizio Medical launched iON AI in March 2025; Envision launched 4Sight in July 2024.
Partnerships
14 May — Syneos expands its AI partnerships to include Sageforce AI-powered field teams — AI MSLs, field reimbursement managers, nurse navigators, virtual sales representatives — and causaLens causal-AI agents across commercial operations.
Structure and roles
26 February — WPP ends its holding company model, folding Ogilvy, VML and AKQA into four divisions, targeting £500m in savings and an AI-enabled operating structure.
Mid-2026 — Omnicom Health Medical Communications debuts as a roll-up of ten medcomms agencies: estimated $360m revenue, 1,450 staff.
August 2024 — Syneos appointed a dedicated AI innovation lead in its US PR practice.
Published positions
21 January — Envision’s VP of AI publishes ten AI game-changers for 2026: generative content, automated literature review, congress intelligence, MLR automation, synthetic KOLs.
30 January / 10 April — OPEN Health publishes on AI-accelerated RWE, then assesses AI readiness across HEOR: strongest in structured, repeatable tasks; weakest in judgement-driven work.
6 April — Omnicom Health publishes eight signals on the future of health at SXSW.
21 May — Ogilvy Health goes on record about its AI adoption pace and its Ria tool.
13 July — Envision publishes a whitepaper on AI-simulated advisory boards.
One observation, offered as no more than that: the tasks these products target are consistent across agencies — drafting, summarising, reference checking, evidence synthesis.
What the record does not contain: any published evidence of traction. No renewals, client wins or revenue attributed to any of these tools. Announcements are not adoption, and I won’t treat them as such. Nor does a launch date tell you whether the thing works, or whether the acquisition behind it went well.
Corrections and additions welcome — particularly from anyone who has used these tools rather than read about them. Reply and tell me.
— Ned
